Music For Coping With COVID-19

A Note From The Editor

As the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to increase, paranoia from misinformation and irresponsibility of leadership skyrockets while the American economy grinds to a halt. Those who need access to proper testing and medical care fear that they won't receive it, all the while the bell curve of the American healthcare system desperately needs to be flattened. Unemployment is only increasing, and the arts and services community - two of the most pivotal influences in my life - have been ravished to a point where a "bounce back" may not be enough.

Essentially, everything is terrible.

But to not maintain hope at this time would be the gravest mistake of all.

While the new normal has undoubtedly brought forth new trials and tribulations for every single human being, we must follow the guidelines set forth by our public health officials - no exception. Beyond our duties as citizens, we must not forget to face the horrors of our current world with optimism, as we will only survive with strength, perseverance and unity.

With that in mind, the staff at Osmosis Tones has compiled a collection of songs to help cope with whatever emotions we may currently be feeling towards the pandemic. There is no one way to cope with the instability of our world, but if I've learned anything from my brief existence, it's that music will help put you in the place you wish to escape to. More than ever we need catharsis, and with the help of some topical, entertaining, and liberating songs, I hope that we can provide that for you.

As someone who has lost two jobs in the hospitality industry within the past few weeks (all the while my final semester of college before graduation has been put on pause), I would be remiss not to mention the Restaurant Workers' Community Foundation. Please consider donating to help those in this industry at this time - we're gonna need it.

Stay safe. Be well. Happy listening.
